BOOMERANG PRODUCTION LINE
Various stages of production with advanced builds on centre sections with engines installed in the background.
Poor quality photo showing metal wheeling machine beside one aircraft during panel work fabrication.
A46-2 under build in 1942. Note the early roundel with the centre red dot.
Advance stage of production. Seven aircraft in photo with many outer wing panels in background. Although they appear to be Foliage Green, they are in fact Green/Brown camouflage, with Sky Blue under surface.
Production line before the completion of the cockpit coverings, wing fillets, the installation forward of the firewall and inclusion of outer wings. Aircraft on left doesn't have drum brake assemblies fitted at time. Lower wheel doors still to be fitted. Smooth tyres still being fitted.
Although of poor quality, this shows the installation of the engine assembly to the Boomerang fuselage. The 14 gallon oil tank is attached into its cradle and the 2 oil coolers are installed into their mount. The undercarriage uplock hook mechanism is visible as is the fuel filter pot. To avoid chaffing of the oil tank against the firewall, a large rectangular piece of felt was fixed to the firewall. The Square boxes on the firewall allow the rudder pedals to fully extend.
Different angle of engine assembly to Boomerang Fuselage.
